Maddie stared out the window of the run down diner. She exaimined the menu carefully, but couldn't find anything appealing to her. She went through her phases, and this week she felt going vegitarian. She finally gave up and ordered a salad. She sipped her water and gazed at the darkening sky. It had been a year since James disappeared. This was the annersary.

The Don Lucania had himself hidden under a bowler hat and a black trench coat. "Keep it runnin'," he told the driver of his Cadillac. "I might wanna get outa here pretty fast if Locka's guys happen by."
Grunting, he moved lethargically out of the car and into the diner. I'm gettin' too old for this, he thought bitterly as he straightened his coat. After being seated, he nonchalently looked over the menu. "How's the Italian food in dis joint?" he asked the bartender a few feet away. "The veal's the best in the city," the bartender promised. Nodding a reply, Adriano put down the menu and took a survey of his surroundings. A few couples, a group of surprisingly quiet teenagers... and what's this? A pretty girl, about college-age, sitting and eating a small salad by herself near the edge of the restaurant. She looks like Angela, my daughter, when she was her age. Intrigued, the Don thought of going up to her and introducing himself, but he held back. She'll probably think she's gettin' hit on my a fifty-year-old man.

The Don shook his head. "You are always welcome with me," he replied, but still was intrigued with the young college girl at the edge of the restaurant.

Maddie finished picking at her salad. Her stomach rumbled. Maybe being a vegatartion this week wasn't a good idea. An older man entered, followed bya young women. He was watching her. She felt his gaze rest on her exact spot. She shook off the feeling and sipped her drink. She dripped on her shirt and giggled. "What a clutz!" she murmered to herself.

The Don stared at her in wonder and shook his head ruefully as she spilled some of her beverage on her shirt. She even acts like my daughter, too. Clumsy, but giggly. The waiter came by with the Don's dinner. "Do you want anything?" he asked Rain.

Maddie put down her drink and mopped up her shirt. The waiter came back over and she ordered some desseret. She didn't know what she ordered, for she closed her eyes and pointed to the menu. This was how she and her sister chose dessert.

The Don Tristin strode into the restaurant, acting as if she owned the place. She was wearing a black suede coat over her blue shirt with the Beatles on it. She had on her favorite denim skinny jeans and pointy toed boots. Her Doberman, Cerberus, followed his Mistress loyally.
She seated herself beside The Don Lucina. " I know you must be very busy, but I'm here to arrange a meeting with you. I have a 'business' prospect that I think you would be interested in." she said, her British accent predominate, with just a hint of sarcasm.

More people started coming in. Among the others was Emma Taylor. She knew she was running late to the little dinner fest her sister and her had planned, but it wasn't her fault. Some idiot practicully totaled her car. She saw her sister and put on her happy face. Emma walked over there and sat down in front of her. "Sorry I'm late. Some idiot almost totaled my car. Oh, by the way, I need a lift home." Emma said, grinning.
Maddie saw her sister enter just as her dessert arrived. It was one of her favorites; lemon ice. She watched as her sister made her way to the table. Maddie slid the ice between the two as she explained her absence. "Well, good thing we have insurance." she laughed, taking a bite of the tart ice.
